VAMSHAVAANI

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

VAMSHAVAANI is a private, non-commercial website built to record and share the family tree, history, and updates of the Shambhat family. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect from family members who use the site, how it is used, and how it is protected.

1. Who this applies to

This site is intended only for members of the Shambhat family and their relatives. Most pages — Family Tree, My Details, Events, Photo Gallery, Vamsha Vaani and News — are visible only after you log in. The Home page and Contact Us page are the only pages visible to the public.

2. Information we collect

  • Account information — the name, username and email address you provide when you register.
  • Family details — information you or a family administrator add through “My Details” or the Family Tree, such as date of birth, place of birth, current location, address, mobile number, email, qualification, profession, and a photograph.
  • Content you share — photographs, captions and posts you upload to the Photo Gallery or Vamsha Vaani, and any News items an administrator publishes.
  • Login and activity records — sign-in time, IP address, browser and device type are recorded for every login attempt, successful or not, so administrators can keep the family’s records secure.

3. How we use your information

Information is used only to build and maintain the family tree, help relatives find and stay in touch with one another, and share family news, events and photographs within the family. We do not sell, rent, or share your information with advertisers or unrelated third parties, and the site carries no advertising.

4. Who can see your information

Family details, photographs and posts are visible to other logged-in family members. Family tree edits you submit are reviewed by a family administrator before they are applied. Login and activity records are visible only to administrators, and are used solely to monitor account security (for example, spotting repeated failed sign-in attempts).

5. Account registration and approval

New registrations may be reviewed by a family administrator before the account is activated, to confirm the person is a genuine family member. Please provide accurate information when you register.

6. How your information is stored

Your information is stored on the site’s own server. Passwords are never stored in plain text — WordPress stores them in encrypted (hashed) form. Uploaded photographs are stored on the same server. While we take reasonable steps to keep this information secure, no online system can be guaranteed 100% secure.

7. Cookies

This site uses standard WordPress cookies to keep you signed in between visits. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

8. Children’s information

The family tree may include information about family members who are minors, added by a parent or guardian. This information is used only for family record-keeping and is not made public.

9. Your choices

You can review and update most of your own details from the “My Details” page at any time. If you would like to review, correct, or remove information about yourself or a family member from the site, please reach out through the Contact Us page.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the site’s features change. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision.

11. Contact

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how your information is handled, please get in touch via the Contact Us page.
